My answers to this week’s questions over at https://thefridayfive.dreamwidth.org/139779.html
1. What item would you be embarrassed for people to know you own?
I’m kind of embarrassed when strangers see that I own a big poster featuring Jeri Ryan as Seven if Nine on Star Trek: Voyager and have it proudly displayed on my kitchen wall! I bought it back when season 4 had finished airing, and the poster features Seven wearing the silver catsuit… I found a pic of the poster, it’s this one:
It's been almost 30 years since I bought it, it's been through 3 moves and the corners a little bit frayed. I'm going to be very sad when at some point it won't hold up anymore!
Hmm, if I were smart I'd have to framed and hung properly instead of taping it to the wall from the corners....
2. What is something you splurged on just for you?
I guess all of my fountain pens and fountain pen inks fit this description! I don’t strictly need them, but I love them! Particularly the two Nahvalur fountain pens I own; they are so pretty to look at and write well. And were pricy enough that I had to save a bit to by them.
3. What is something that you own with no real world value that is priceless to you?
Our family photos, the ones with me, Dad and Mom. And of course photos of our Beagle Caro who is long gone now. No monetary value to anyone but a lot of emotional value to my Mom and I.
4. Do you collect anything?
Not really collect, but I tend to accumulate things I love - such as the above mentioned fountain pens, or books I love. I don’t buy everything by an author though or all the fountain pens or whatever it is, and I have no aim to do so, just the ones I absolutely love. None of it is a collection that’s complete or anything like that. Just bits and pieces I love. And in the past, when I stopped loving something or just lost interest, I had no trouble selling them so I could get rid of them (and maybe use the money for a new interest!).
5. What item belonging to a friend/family member do you covet?
Nothing. I do want my Mom’s hand-written recipe collection and her cooking/baking books once she’s gone, and our family photos, and my Grandma’s rocking chair Mom took when Grandma moved into hospital care. But nothing I “covet” as I understand the word.
