Hello, and welcome to the home of the Paid Account Fairy.
If you know someone who is a keen member of the Dreamwidth community, who wants a paid account but can’t afford it, comment here and we’ll see what we can do.
If you are a fellow fairy, feel free just to pick people out of the comments and send them gifts, or leave a comment here if you want to get in contact and be all organised and nerdy about this.
This started in 2009 and is still active in 2017.
PayPal Proxy
Dec. 27th, 2011 04:49 pmIf you are interested in someone playing PayPal Proxy for you, others would like to volunteer!
Since the "people who can buy things with a credit card" and "Dreamwidth" Venn diagram bubbles don't completely overlap, there are several people who would like to offer their services as a go-between. Here's how it works:
1) You reply to this entry to say you're interested
2) Someone else replies to say they can proxy for you.
3) You send them the amount you want to spend at their PayPal account. Please either let them know how much you're spending in a PM and/or include your Dreamwidth ID in the PayPal note thing.
4) They use that money to buy Dreamwidth points
5) They transfer the points to you.
6) You use the points to buy nifty things on Dreamwidth
This has been going since 2011, and is still active in 2017.

Gift a Random User
Aug. 22nd, 2009 12:34 pmNow the "Gift a Random User/Sponsor a User" feature has come out, that's the easiest way, along with "Circle Gifts", to give out paid accounts here. However, if there's anyone particular who can't afford an account, feel free to comment with a username here, and hopefully a fairy will cover it.
